Tinhlm – ‘I wish I could have saved you’: Aussie influencer Danielle Mitchell shares heartbreaking loss of baby girl Maggie Jean

An Australian family has been left devastated following the tragic loss of a newborn baby girl after a popular parenting influencer made the agonizing decision to undergo a medical termination at 26 weeks.

Danielle Mitchell, 32, shared the gut-wrenching news from her hospital bed alongside her husband Nathan, detailing the final moments spent holding their stillborn daughter, Maggie Jean.

It is understood the Gold Coast-based mother-of-two had faced a harrowing prenatal battle after regular scans revealed severe developmental issues.

“Mummy, Daddy, and your big sister love you so much my sweet girl,” Ms Mitchell wrote in a highly emotional social media post.

“I am so sorry things weren’t different for you, I wish I could have saved you.”

A Devastating Diagnosis

The heartbreaking ordeal began at a routine 20-week scan, where specialists discovered the baby girl was measuring in just the fifth percentile for size.

Further testing conducted by maternal-fetal medicine experts later confirmed that the unborn child was suffering from a critical chromosomal abnormality and major defects across six body systems.

Medical sources close to the family indicate the diagnosis meant the child would not be compatible with life outside the womb.

“We know this is right for our baby girl,” Ms Mitchell shared ahead of the procedure.

“The findings on her brain would mean she’d never walk, talk, eat or potentially breathe on her own.”

“We are at peace with knowing she won’t be fighting and suffering anymore.”

Community Outpouring

The agonizing loss has triggered a massive wave of community support across Australia, with thousands of parents rallying behind the grieving family online.

Dozens of local support groups and followers have praised the 32-year-old for her raw honesty regarding late-term medical terminations, a topic often shrouded in silence.

“Nothing can prepare you to walk into a hospital knowing you’ll be leaving your baby there after birthing her,” Ms Mitchell said.

The couple, who are also parents to a young daughter named Bette, are now reportedly preparing a funeral for baby Maggie Jean.
