“We’ve been wobbly these last few days after squeezing him tightly and saying goodbye,” she wrote.
His final weeks in Australia had been filled with farewells to friends and family, time with his grandmother and plenty of affection from home.
Then he was off to begin the next chapter.
The family home suddenly became quieter
For a mother who had spent years raising two boys, their growing independence brought an unexpected adjustment.
Kylie and her husband Tony also have younger son Archie, 22, who is now making his own way in the world.
An insider told Woman’s Day that the change was particularly noticeable once both boys began spending more time away from home.
“It was a strange adjustment for Kylie when the boys first left home,” the source said.
“The house suddenly felt very different without the noise, laughter and chaos.”

Months after saying goodbye to Gus, Kylie, Tony and Archie were finally reunited with him in his new home.
On August 24, Kylie shared the emotional family reunion with her followers.
“The Gillies gang is back together ❤️,” she wrote, adding that they had joined Gus in Berlin and were “so happy”.
Among the photographs was a particularly meaningful moment: Kylie and Gus sharing their first hug since December.
For a mother who had spent months relying on FaceTime and messages to stay connected with her son, the physical reunion clearly meant something different.
Another photograph showed Kylie reunited with both of her boys.
A moment she knew she had to savour
According to the insider, the reunion was an emotional one for Kylie.
“After all the FaceTimes and messages, being able to hug them again meant the world to Kylie,” the source claimed.
The family is now making the most of their time together in Europe, creating memories while everyone is in the same place.
And that may be the part Kylie treasures most.
Because she knows these moments are becoming less frequent as her sons establish careers, relationships and lives of their own.
Pride on one side, an empty space on the other
Kylie’s story is ultimately not about wanting her sons to come home.
