Karl Stefanovic Returns With a Notebook Full of Clues — One Unexpected Glimpse Hints at What’s Coming Next

After weeks of rebuilding his career following his departure from Today, Karl Stefanovic has offered an unexpected glimpse into what could be his most talked-about interviews yet.

A Notebook That Sparked Plenty of Questions

Karl Stefanovic was spotted arriving back in Sydney on Friday after travelling to Melbourne, where he had been recording interviews for The Karl Stefanovic Show.

The 51-year-old appeared relaxed as he walked through the airport dressed in an all-black outfit, carrying his phone and an open notebook.

But it wasn’t his casual look that caught attention—it was the handwritten notes visible on the page.

Although the writing could not be fully read, several words appeared to stand out, including “the village”“happened with access”“clinic”, along with several names.

The notes appeared to resemble interview prompts, though their exact meaning remains unclear.

Two High-Profile Guests Already Locked In

Outside the airport, Karl stopped to chat with photographers while waiting for his Toyota ute, branded with The Karl Stefanovic Show logo, to be brought around by valet.

When asked who would be appearing on his new podcast, Karl laughed before joking:

“Mate, are you trying to take the Today show job?”

He then confirmed that his recent Melbourne trip had included interviews with billionaire entrepreneur Adrian Portelli and Melbourne identity Mick Gatto, two of Australia’s most talked-about public figures.

While Karl didn’t reveal what was discussed, the notebook only fuelled curiosity about what viewers can expect when the interviews are released.

A Light-Hearted Update on Life Off Screen

Karl also shared a brief update on another major project in his life—his family’s new home.

Asked how renovations on his Castlecrag property were progressing, he laughed:

“God knows.”

He then added that all he could do was “keep paying the bills.”

Karl and wife Jasmine are building a luxury residence on Sydney’s lower north shore after demolishing the original 1960s home.

The couple are expected to move in with their six-year-old daughter Harper once construction is complete.

A New Career Takes Shape

The Melbourne trip marks another step in Karl’s transition from breakfast television to independent media following his departure from Channel Nine.

His new subscription podcast, The Karl Stefanovic Show, is expected to feature exclusive long-form interviews, with Adrian Portelli and Mick Gatto among its earliest guests.

The project represents a fresh chapter for the veteran broadcaster as he builds a new platform outside traditional television.

Meanwhile, Today Continues to Change

Karl’s latest public appearance came as Channel Nine prepares another temporary reshuffle of the Today hosting team.

Industry reports indicate that Samantha Armytage will join Michael Willesee Jr. next week while the network continues searching for a permanent replacement following Karl’s exit.

Sarah Abo remains on maternity leave, and Nine is reportedly continuing to trial different presenter combinations before making any long-term decisions about the show’s future.

While Today looks ahead with a new lineup, Karl appears equally focused on writing his own next chapter—one page, and perhaps one notebook, at a time.
