“We’re About to Do It All Again”
Just over a year after welcoming their first child, Channel 7 sports presenter and former AFLW premiership player Abbey Holmes has shared some heartwarming news that has delighted fans across Australia.
Holmes and her husband, former AFL player Keegan Brooksby, are expecting their second baby, with the much-loved television personality revealing that their growing family is about to become a family of four.
The announcement comes after the couple welcomed their son, Braxton, in June last year. Reflecting on the exciting new chapter, Holmes admitted the joy of becoming parents made the decision to grow their family feel completely natural.
“Becoming parents has been the greatest time of our lives, so to know we’re about to do it all again is incredibly exciting,” she said.’
A Dream They Had Always Hoped For
Rather than waiting several years, Holmes and Brooksby had long hoped their children would be close in age. Now, that dream is becoming reality.
Although she acknowledged life is about to become much busier with two children under two, Holmes said she and her husband are embracing every moment that lies ahead.
“With two under two, we know life is about to get busier, noisier and a little more chaotic, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Perhaps the moment she is looking forward to most is watching little Braxton step into a brand-new role.
“I can’t wait to see Brax become a big brother. We always hoped we would be able to expand our family and have children close in age, so we are extremely grateful it’s turned out this way.”
She added that the couple loves the idea of their children growing up side by side, celebrating life’s milestones together and, hopefully, becoming lifelong best friends.
Motherhood Changed Everything
Before becoming one of Channel 7’s familiar football presenters, Holmes built an impressive sporting career, making history as part of the Adelaide Crows’ inaugural AFLW premiership-winning team before successfully transitioning into television broadcasting.
While she remains passionate about her career covering Australia’s biggest football moments, Holmes admitted nothing has transformed her life quite like becoming a mother.
“I love my career, but becoming a mum has given me a completely different perspective.”
She explained that raising Braxton has made every moment spent at home feel even more meaningful and has given her a renewed appreciation for family life.
Now, she and Brooksby are eagerly preparing for the next chapter as they get ready to welcome another little one into their home.
