Tinhlm – Danika Mason Addresses Live Studio Vomiting And The Shocking Cravings That Exposed Her Hidden Secret On Today

Channel Nine personality Danika Mason has officially revealed she is expecting a baby daughter with her former NRL star fiancé, Liam Knight.

The Logie-nominated sports reporter broke the incredible news live on the Today show on Wednesday morning, completely delighting her on-air colleagues Sarah Abo, Tom Steinfort, Richard Wilkins, and Jayne Azzopardi.

The Today show crew instantly celebrated the milestone by presenting the NRL boundary expert with a custom cake during the live broadcast, where Mason shared that her little girl is expected to arrive this coming December.

‘We feel deeply honoured to be invited into your family households every single morning, so when there is major news here, it’s beautiful to share it with you guys first before the rest of the world find out about it,’ Mason warmly told television viewers.

‘So Liam and I are expecting a little baby, triggering a bit of a little baby boom right here on the Today show,’ she continued, playfully gesturing to co-host Sarah Abo’s own ongoing pregnancy.

Mason also confirmed that she has finally moved past the difficult morning sickness phase of her ongoing pregnancy.

When Abo questioned her on how her body is currently feeling, she responded, ‘A whole lot better.

‘I was actually quite sick early on in the piece. So it’s a little girl, due in December, meaning the football off-season is going to be a little bit busier for us this year.

‘Liam is absolutely over the moon. He’s so excited. He is completely ready to step up and be a girl dad.

‘Everyone here at Nine network has been incredibly supportive, especially when I’ve been literally vomiting on my way to work in the mornings and everything, everyone’s been so protective.

‘It’s so funny, the exact moment that I realized I was pregnant, I developed a massive chicken schnitzel craving. I just, honestly, all I could think about day and night was chicken schnitzels.’

The Nine network star also chose to share the milestone on Instagram, uploading a sweet gallery of photos featuring her pet dog wearing a custom bib that read ‘promoted to big brother’ as he posed alongside recent ultrasound scans of her baby, as well as a photograph of her positive digital pregnancy test.

Her fantastic personal news was instantly met with a massive wave of heartfelt comments from prominent sports and television personalities, including former Souths forward Jai Arrow, entertainment reporter Renee Bargh, her Nine NRL panel colleague Allana Ferguson, and news presenter Sylvia Jeffries.

Mason and Knight originally went public with their whirlwind romance back in July 2024, coming just a few months after the Channel Nine sports presenter dramatically parted ways with her former fiancé, Todd Liubinskas.

The loved-up couple finally validated their relationship rumors via social media following months of intense public speculation, with the professional footballer seen tightly embracing Danika in a romantic photo uploaded to his personal Instagram account.

‘My life’s good,’ Liam penned in the short caption, alongside the couple sharing a warm cuddle.

Danika originally ended her relationship with her ex Todd Liubinskas in September 2023, just three weeks before their meticulously planned wedding ceremony was set to take place.

The Daily Mail previously uncovered that Liubinskas – who works as a celebrity personal trainer – later formally requested that Danika return the diamond engagement ring because it was a treasured family heirloom.

However, Danika legally retained ownership of the $1.5 million Maroubra property that she previously shared with her former fiancé. She later publicly established that the couple decided to split due to a permanent ‘breakdown in mutual trust.’

After Liam successfully agreed to professional terms with the English Super League squad Hull FC in March, the pair adapted to a long-distance relationship model – and they have since enjoyed romantic getaways together across Europe at every open opportunity.

Knight officially popped the question in October of last year while the traveling couple were enjoying a luxury holiday in Europe.

He dropped down on one knee on a remote beach in Sardinia, Italy, with Mason breaking the news to her social media followers by simply writing, ‘Some exciting news.’

When the 34-year-old media personality proudly displayed the dazzling diamond ring to television fans on Today shortly after the engagement, it was noticeably sitting on her middle finger, with the reporter explaining that the band was slightly too large and she was ‘too worried about accidentally losing it’.

‘It feels like I’m aggressively flipping the bird every single time I show somebody the ring,’ she joked, which instantly caused studio co-hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo to erupt into heavy laughter.

‘Turns out she’s got much skinnier fingers than they look on TV,’ Liam, 30, jokingly quipped at the time.

Danika then went on to reveal the extreme clandestine measures Liam took to safely conceal the ring box and keep the romantic Italian proposal an absolute secret.

‘He was frantically trying to hide the diamond ring from me, and we had planned to go down to the beach, so we hired a small dinghy boat for the afternoon,’ she recalled.

‘Anyway, so he had to physically drop me off on the shore and, just to keep the surprise a secret, he had to go dive in and swim 150 meters back.’

She added: ‘So his physical heart rate was already going straight through the roof from the swim, and then he had to execute the actual proposal on top of all that.’

Knight, who successfully starred in 83 top-grade NRL matches across his career for Manly, Canberra, Souths, and the Bulldogs, is currently contracted to the Cessnock Goannas regional team located just west of Newcastle, New South Wales.
